During National Volunteer Week, United Way of Bay County partnered with John Glenn High School students of Bangor Township Schools for this year’s Global Youth Service Project, Bridging Generations.

268 students came together to make this project possible and spread joy to local seniors by painting pots, planting houseplants, creating heartfelt cards, and assembling care packages. These items were delivered to residents at Bay County Medical Care Facility and Close To Home Assisted Living.
A special thank you to Begick Nursery & Garden Center for generously donating 150 houseplants, and to Rod Schanck and Jim Lyman from Bay City Department of Public Safety for helping transport and deliver these gifts of kindness.
At United Way of Bay County, volunteerism drives our mission forward and leads the way in building a stronger community. We are constantly inspired by the dedication of the young volunteers across our community. The youth service opportunities supported by the Michigan Community Service Commission serve as a powerful reminder that positive impact, no matter how small, can happen at any age.
