United Way of Bay County Awarded with Child Care Champion of Michigan
Last month, United Way of Bay County was named a 2026 Child Care Champion of Michigan in recognition of its efforts to expand access to child care for families throughout Bay County.
The recognition comes from the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), the Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC), and Pulse at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research. The award celebrates the work being done to strengthen child care access and support families and communities across Michigan.
As part of these efforts, United Way of Bay County is helping bring a new child care center to the community. The center will primarily serve infants and toddlers and is expected to open in 2027, expanding access to much-needed child care for local families.
“This recognition means so much because it really does reflect the work of an entire community that came together around a shared challenge and a shared vision,” said Nicole Luczak, President and CEO of United Way of Bay County. “While United Way is honored to receive this award it really belongs to the partners, advocates, child care professionals, community leaders, and families who have helped move this project forward. ”
Access to reliable child care is essential for families, employers, and the local economy. By working to increase child care availability, United Way of Bay County is helping to
build a stronger community where parents can pursue employment opportunities while resting assured that their children are in great hands.
United Way of Bay County extends its gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this effort. This recognition celebrates not only the progress made, but also the continued collaboration and dedication needed to create meaningful, lasting solutions for the community.
