Investing in Bay County’s Future
United Way of Bay County is proud to announce it has received a $30,000 grant from Huntington Bank to support a range of programs that directly impact the well-being of Bay County residents. The funding will enhance United Way’s ability to offer meaningful initiatives aimed at addressing pressing community needs and creating long-term, sustainable change, to ensure that every person in Bay County has access to equitable opportunities that lead to an enhanced quality of life.
This generous contribution will support a variety of initiatives, including a Senior Fraud Prevention Workshop —a collaborative effort between United Way of Bay County, Huntington Bank, the City of Bay City, Bay City Public Safety, Department on Aging, and the Area Agency on Aging Region 7, aimed at protecting older adults from financial scams and exploitation. The workshop will provide seniors with the tools and information they need to help them recognize and avoid fraudulent activity, empowering them to protect their finances and personal security. The first 200 attendees will receive a gift bag and are eligible to receive a free box of food directly following the workshop in partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. The workshop will be held on June 27th, from 10 AM – 1 PM at the Bay County Community Center.
”The long-standing partnership we have with Huntington Bank is critical to moving United Way’s mission forward,” says Nicole Luczak, President and CEO of United Way of Bay County. “This support equates to a life-changing impact for thousands of Bay County residents by alleviating the financial burden of things like the holidays, back-to-school shopping, or typical unanticipated expenses like medical bills or a vehicle repair. We are consistently working with Huntington’s leaders to bring new initiatives to our community, such as the fraud workshop, to help protect our most vulnerable neighbors.”
In addition to the upcoming fraud workshop, the grant will be used to support initiatives and programs that directly go toward serving the community, such as food distributions, financial assistance, and much more. These initiatives are designed to create long-term, positive change by tackling root causes and supporting ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) individuals and families on their path to success.
“Strengthening the communities we serve is an essential part of what we do every day,” said Seth Perigo, Regional President for Huntington. “The United Way of Bay County is an incredible asset to everyone in Bay County, as they share our commitment to looking out for people.”
This grant reinforces the shared commitment of Huntington Bank and United Way of Bay County to foster equity, empowerment, and meaningful change for individuals and families throughout Bay County. It marks an important step in advancing local solutions through strong partnerships between community organizations and the private sector.
We are deeply grateful for Huntington’s continued partnership and trust in our mission. Together, we’re filling critical gaps and building a stronger, more resilient community—one initiative at a time.
