Local community organizations come together to prevent scams and fraud to our older generations
On June 27th, 2025, United Way of Bay County teamed up with other local community stakeholders to provide a FREE Fraud Prevention workshop for Seniors in our community and their families.
Scammers often use fear, urgency, and familiarity to trick seniors into giving up personal information. Raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and helping older adults recognize red flags can make all the difference.
Attendees will learn how to protect themselves from fraud and scams, how to recognize common scam tactics before they happen, steps to take if you suspect fraud, and professional financial advice from reputable organizations, such as Huntington National Bank, Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, Bay City Public Safety, and more!
As a way to provide the maximum impact for the seniors in our community, a food distribution was available for all attendees to receive extra groceries, directly after the workshop, in partnership with Labadie Auto Company, the City of Bay City, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
