Light Up the Holidays for ALICE
For many families living paycheck to paycheck, the holidays can be a time of stress rather than celebration. That’s why United Way of Bay County launched “Light Up the Holidays for ALICE”—a program designed to bring warmth, joy, and dignity to families who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE).
This past holiday season, the program delivered more than just decorations. 20 families received beautiful Christmas lights, installed by caring volunteers who showed up with ladders, smiles, and holiday spirit. For many, it was the first time their homes sparkled with festive cheer.
But the support didn’t stop there. Each family also received a holiday food basket, filled with everything needed to prepare a full holiday meal—from the main course to dessert. Our main goal of this project was to alleviate the stress of providing a joyous holiday season for these people and their families. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers, ALICE families across Bay County experienced a brighter, more joyful holiday season. “Light Up the Holidays” reminded us all that small acts of kindness can shine the brightest—especially when they come from the heart.
