Income Stability

Promoting Independence

When people are able to find decent jobs, provide for their families and save for the future, they and their children are more likely to enjoy healthy lives and succeed in school. Everyone benefits, because financially stable individuals and families lead to a more competitive workforce and a stronger community.

United Way of Bay County, working with partners from all sectors of society, connects people to the resources they need to get on more solid financial ground and fulfill their basic needs.

Initiative: Self-Sufficiency

  • Increase access to transportation for basic needs, health and education.
  • Engage and empower individuals to transition out of the cycle of poverty into financial stability.
  • Improve access for individuals or families to educate themselves on skills to build stability and independence.
  • Improve access and awareness of resources providing assistance in utilities, rent and food.

Goal 1

Increase access to resources providing assistance for employment skills and basic needs.

Goal 2

Increasing the percentage of Bay County residents living above the 250% poverty level toward long term self-sufficiency.
