2010 REGIONAL Day of Caring

September 18 from 9:00 am to noon!  Your local United Ways will join together along with 1,000 volunteers to build “Outdoor Reading Centers” and complete beautification projects at more than 30 elementary schools in Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties.  Call now to sign up!  989.893.7508 x17

United Way Funds to Help Local Residents

United Way of Bay County meets our mission of building the community in numerous ways through our investment process. United Way also funds many critical programs at local agencies that further improve our community. In 2010, United Way invested $644,542 into 34 programs at 18 organizations. To do so, United Way engaged over 50 volunteers to determine the investments based on each program’s ability to prove the benefits it has on the lives of the individuals and families served.  Read full article...

Grant Applications for Emergency Food & Shelter Available                     Bay County will receive an award of over $93,693 as part of Phase 28 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. This is part of a congressional grant of $200 million dollars to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs.  The deadline for applications to be received is by 5:00 pm March 18, 2010.  Click here for more information! 

United Way of Bay County’s Free Food Assistance program has helped over 300 families in the past year. Each family received fresh produce, milk, eggs, meat and non perishable items. Enough food to feed a family of four for one week and reduce their food bill by 25% that month alone.

Does your household earn less than $42,000 a year? If so, you can get your taxes filed for free by United Way volunteers. Last year 1,300 people use our service that returned over $1 million in tax refunds and credits to Bay County. Tax appoint are being taken now through April 15, 893-7508 ext. 19.

Due to a huge donation of new fabric, United Way’s RSVP quilting group is in needs new sewing machines. Turning out beautiful quilts to keep people warm, this group does an excellent job donating much of what they make to area hospitals and agencies that serve people in need.
