First Call for Help - Information & Referral

24/7 First Call is Here for You
For over 50 years the AFL-CIO and United Way have worked together to provide Community Services for residents of Bay and Arenac County. We continue this tradition today. The First Call for Help program is available for all residents and offers direct services such as food vouchers, prescription drug assistance and other material needs. If you or someone you know needs help, please call or stop by your United Way of Bay County. Our First Call for Help program works to help you through the information and referral process. It is simple:
-
Call or stop by United Way.
-
Confidentially talk to a trained staff member.
-
United Way will refer you to the appropriate agency that can best assist you in your time of need.
The First Call for help program will not only get you in touch with agencies, but we also offer personal client case management. This free service ensures that if you need long term assistance, we are here for you. We will work with you to identify agencies and resources to get you through those tough times.
We don’t do it alone. The First Call for Help program works with all health and human service organizations in our community. We are also networked locally and nationally. We encourage you to contact our office, 989.893.7508, for a consultation on the organization that can best help you in your time of need. This is a service provided to you by the AFL-CIO and United Way partnership.
The needs in Bay County are real. In 2007, 3,890 people sought help from United Way. United Way tracks all requests for services.
