United Way of Bay County recognizes the strong commitment of youth volunteerism and provides the Michigan Student Service Award.
The Michigan Student Service Award is a premier statewide program recognizing high school graduates who volunteer a significant number of hours to benefit their communities.
Students involved in the Michigan Student Service program over four years will complete and document a minimum of 400 hours of non-paid community service that meet a recognized community need, under the auspices of a nonprofit organization, government program, community group or school in Bay County.
Graduating high school students receive a medallion of distinction to wear with their graduation cap and gown and a certificate signed by the Governor of Michigan for commitment to volunteerism. Students need only contact their school coordinator to get involved.
